چکیده

Heavy-metal ions and organic mercurials are known to have a pronounced inhibitory action on many enzymes (see Dixon & Webb, 1958). It is generally accepted that these reagents are reactive towards sulphydryl groups (see Gurd & Wilcox, 1956; Cecil & McPhee, 1959; Boyer, 1959) and also towards other groups (Sohler, Seibert, Kreke & Cook, 1952; Myrback, 1957). A detailed investigation of the effects of heavy-metal ions on a well characterized purified enzyme could lead to a better understanding of both their mode of action and the nature of the active centres in the enzyme. ,-Glucuronidase from various sources is inhibited by fairly low concentrations (less than mm) of mercuric, silver and cupric ions (Sarkar & Sumner, 1950; Jarrige & Henry, 1952; Doyle, Katzman & Doisy, 1955; Levvy, Hay & Marsh, 1957), whilst being unaffected by anionic enzyme poisons such as fluoride, cyanide or iodoacetate (Sarkar & Sumner, 1950; Wong & Rossiter, 1951). The general properties of the enzyme have recently been reviewed by Levvy & Marsh (1959, 1960), who have also studied the effects of heavy-metal ions on ratand mouse-liver f-glucuronidase (Levvy & Marsh, 1957a, b). The present paper is based on similar experiments with a highly purified mam-

Heavy metals removal from wastewater by using different kinds of magnetite nanoadsorbents: effects of different organic and inorganic coatings on the removal of copper and lead ions

Co-precipitation procedure was applied in order to obtain different kinds of magnetic nanoadsobents for the removal of Pb(II) and Cu(II) toxic metal ions from wastewater samples. Prepared nanoadsorbents were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The average sizes of t...

Interaction of some heavy metal ions with single walled carbon nanotube

The interaction between some heavy metal ions such as of Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cu(II) ions from aqueous solution adsorbed by single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNTs) and carboxylate group functionalized single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT-COOH) surfaces were studied by atomic absorption spectroscopy. The effect of contact time, pH, initial concentration of ion, ionic strength and temperature on the...

Biosorption of Lead (II) and Zinc (II) ions by pre-treated biomass of phanerochaete chrysosporium

The biosorption of heavy metals can be an effective process for the removal of such metal ions from aqueous solutions. In this study, the adsorption properties of nonliving biomass of phanerochaete chrysosporium for Pb (II) and Zn (II) were investigated by the use of batch adsorption techniques. The effects of initial metal ion concentration, initial pH, biosorbent concentration, stirring speed...
